JCHS Annual Halloween Carnival is next week!!

The art class has done this art project before, but Cyanotype paper has chemistry behind it. This is a redox reaction causing a blue reaction between the iron compound and UV light.

The study of evolution can be controversial. Students need to evaluate evidence they see to come up with conclusions. The Smithsonian Natural History Museum allows students to look at different evidences of evolution and make these conclusions.

Not many people think that 'rocks' are fun.; but we live in Arizona and have a rich history of treasure and mystery. The Earth & Space Science class is using associated minerals, maps of Arizona mineral deposits, probabilities, and clues to find possible locations of the Lost Dutchman's Mine. Not only is this a great way to learn the geography of the state, students learn history and resources of the state as well. This project was written by Mrs. Bushman and can be found on ASU's ASAP page. Mrs. Bushman reserves the right to ask for a 10% inspiration fee for any student that finds the real mine and digs it up ;)

There is a JCES site council meeting on Wednesday, Oct 23, 2024 at 3:40 p.m. in the Elementary School Learning Center. This is an open meeting. Parents, students, community members, and staff are welcome to attend and provide input on school decisions and to contribute in making improvements in our schools and contribute to the overall success of our students. Some topics we will discuss are: School Communication, Dress code, Books Are Fun, and Book Fairs.

Bonding lab - Do Covalent bond and Ionic Bond act similarly?

We want to inform you about an important upcoming election that will directly impact Joseph City Schools. On November 5, 2024, eligible voters in our district can participate in the budget override election, either by mail-in ballot or at the polls. The JCH Hot Rod club had a popular entry in the Homecoming parade.

Another Homecoming Week is in the books. Congratulations to our Homecoming king and queen, Jeffrey Howerton and Staisha Murdock.

Congratulations to our Powder Puff and Macho Volleyball winners from last night! Our junior girls pulled off the upset and beat the undefeated senior girls, ending their 3 year run as champions. The freshman boys surprised everyone and dominated Macho Volleyball. In unsurprising news, the JCHS men's alumni team remained unbeaten all-time, beating the freshman class.

Joseph City Schools would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Bill Bennet. Mr Bennett, the former educator and Superintendent who was also a longtime contributing community member has recently passed away. His contributions to our schools and community were many and he will be greatly missed. The Joseph City Auditorium has been named after him. His legacy will live on in our schools and in the hearts of us who had the privilege to know him. Thank you Mr Bennett ❤️

Earth & Space science performing a Chemical Weathering Lab as they are about to go into their cave projects. Which types of rocks react to Hydrochloric Acid? What is the pH of Hydrochloric Acid?

It's getting close to Homecoming time! The 7th grade class is busy getting ready. Come see what their theme is at the parade.

Students did a fantastic job with the Carbon Snake Lab. This lab uses an acid and the reaction can produce a temperature over 300 degrees.

As Photography students finished up their History unit, they had the chance to tour the old Courthouse Museum in Holbrook, where they could photograph artifacts and explore the camera display, seeing cameras from 1935 and even older. Some Photography and Art students also earned the opportunity to attend the Navajo County fair and practice their live sketch skills for art, as well as practice composition skills as it relates to photography.

The football game at El Capitan is at 6 pm Arizona time.

In an upcoming unit, our Jr/Sr English classes will do a mock career fair. Students will get the opportunity to role-play as the hiring manager and the job seeker. They will create a cover letter, resume, and a thank you letter to bring to the mock interview. This is an image of the advertisement for this mock career fair that was posted in our classroom today.
